Breville BES990BTR1BUS1 Oracle Touch Espresso Machine: Professional Dual Boiler construction
Ever dreamed of having a barista in your kitchen? The Breville Oracle Touch Espresso Machine is pretty much that—minus the hipster mustache. It's like the third wave of specialty coffee decided to crash at your place, bringing along its professional Dual Boiler setup for spot-on temperature control. Imagine pulling a shot and steaming milk at the same time without breaking a sweat. And that built-in precision conical burr grinder? It’s got your back, grinding, dosing, and tamping 22 grams of coffee like it’s no big deal—because flavor is everything.
Here’s the lowdown on what makes this machine a game-changer:
- First off, there’s an Over Pressure Valve that keeps things from getting too intense (because nobody likes bitter coffee drama).
- Then, it gently pre-infuses your grounds with low pressure, because even extraction is the secret handshake of great espresso.
- With digital temperature control (PID), it’s like having a thermostat for your coffee—precision is key.
- And for those who love their milk drinks, the automatic microfoam texturing turns you into a latte artist overnight.
- Oh, and the touch screen? It’s so intuitive, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it.
Customize up to 8 coffee profiles because, let’s face it, your morning espresso shouldn’t taste like your neighbor’s. Cafe-quality coffee at home? Yeah, it’s that easy.

so i bought this machine a couple of months back, thinking it would save me trips to the coffee shop. most likely, it has, but with a few headaches. as an engineer, i appreciate how it handles the brewing process—like, it starts with a gentle soak of the grounds before full pressure, which probably evens things out. the touch screen is intuitive; i set up a profile for my usual drink, and it remembers it, which is handy. but man, it's huge! in my apartment, it's like having another appliance crowding the counter. and the cost? oof, it hurt my budget-conscious side, even with my income. i use it daily for my morning espresso, and it's reliable, but the cleaning routine is a chore. i have to descale it and clean the milk system often, which eats into my time. the milk frother is hit or miss; sometimes it makes great foam, other times it's just bubbly. overall, it makes good coffee, but for the price and size, i expected a bit more perfection. :)
- Pros: it makes coffee that tastes like it came from a fancy shop, which is quite nice. the screen is easy to use, and i like that i can save how i want my drinks made. the machine heats up fast and keeps the temperature steady, so the coffee always comes out smooth without any bitterness. it grinds the beans right before brewing, which seems to help with the flavor.
- Cons: it's pretty big and takes up a lot of counter space, which is a bit annoying in my small kitchen. the price was high, and i'm not sure it's worth all that money for what it does. cleaning it is a hassle, with lots of parts to rinse and maintain. sometimes the milk frothing doesn't work perfectly, leaving bubbles instead of that smooth foam.
