Decision:

As a chef and mom of three in Mumbai, I'm always on the road for work and school runs, so I wanted something reliable to keep an eye on things. This dash cam from Optimized General does a decent job—the video is clear, and the wide angle helps in our chaotic traffic. A tip: mount it high on the windshield to avoid glare. But it has its quirks; it heats up, which isn't ideal in our hot weather, and I had to fiddle with settings to get it just right. The courier called ahead for delivery, which was nice, but overall, it's not perfect. It gets the job done, but I might look for something better down the line.

  • Pros: The video quality is very sharp, making it easy to see details like license plates, which is great for peace of mind. I love how it captures a wide view, so nothing important gets missed, and the night vision works surprisingly well in low light. The automatic saving feature when it senses a bump is a lifesaver—it locked footage during a minor scrape, and I felt secure having that proof.
  • Cons: From what I feel, it gets warm after a while, which makes me a bit nervous about long-term use. The setup was a hassle, with wires everywhere, and it doesn't always start recording automatically when I turn on the car. The screen is small, so checking footage on the go is tricky, and I wish it had better audio pickup—sometimes voices are muffled.
