Elegoo B07QWJH77V Tumbller Self-Balancing Robot Kit: Auto-follow and obstacle avoidance
Meet the ELEGOO Tumbller – not your average robotic car kit. It's a self-balancing wonder that brings Arduino projects to life, perfect for diving into the world of robotics and coding without feeling like you're reading a textbook. Whether it's chasing after obstacles (in a friendly way, thanks to its auto-follow feature), dodging them like a pro with ultrasonic sensors, or just showing off with some seriously cool LED light shows (six styles to pick from, because why not?), this kit's got it all. And yeah, it stands up on its own, because balancing is so last year's challenge.
But wait, there's more (said in my best infomercial voice):
- Self-balancing: It’s like a yoga master, always finding its center.
- Obstacle-Avoidance: Navigates around your clutter like it’s nothing.
- Auto-follow: Sticks to you or whatever’s in front like a loyal pet.
- Glowing effects: Lights up your life (or at least your desk) with six dazzling options.
- Arduino-Compatible: For those who like to tinker, tweak, and take things to the next level.
- Glowing in different LED colors
- Controllable via mobile app
- Arduino-compatible for customization
- STEM educational kit
- Auto-follow and obstacle avoidance

so, i got this kit a couple of months back, and it arrived on time, which was nice. as someone who's into tech and loves messing around with projects, i was pretty excited. the self-balancing part is cool—it really does stay upright most of the time, and my kid thinks it's the best thing ever, always wanting to play with it. the obstacle avoidance works well; it zips around my living room without bumping into furniture, which is handy. and the auto-follow feature? yeah, it sticks to me like glue, which is fun for showing off. the lights are a nice touch, with different patterns to choose from, making it feel lively. but, i have to say, the assembly was a bit of a headache. it took me a while to get everything connected properly, and i had to refer to online guides because the included manual wasn't super clear. once it was up and running, it performed decently, but it's not perfect. it can lose balance occasionally, especially on uneven surfaces, and the materials feel a bit cheap for what you pay. i've used it for coding experiments, and it's good for learning, but it might not be the most reliable for serious projects. overall, it's a fun gadget, but not without its flaws. would i recommend it? maybe, if you're on a budget and want something educational, but don't expect top-notch quality.
- Pros: i was incredibly impressed with how it stands up on its own, like it has a mind of its own, and the way it follows me around is a real game changer. the lights are so fun, adding a cool vibe to my desk, and it dodges stuff smoothly without any issues. from what i feel, it's a great intro to tinkering with code and building things, which i love.
- Cons: it can be a bit tricky to set up at first, especially if you're not super familiar with coding, and the instructions might leave you scratching your head. sometimes it feels a bit wobbly or not as stable as i'd like, and the parts could be sturdier for the price. also, the battery life isn't amazing, so you might need to recharge it often.
