BLACK+DECKER BR1810HW Top Mount Refrigerator with Freezer: Spacious 18.1 Cu. Ft. Capacity
Meet the BLACK+DECKER 18.1 Cu. Ft. Top Mount Refrigerator—your new kitchen buddy that's perfect for squeezing into homes and apartments without giving up on storage space. It's like a TARDIS for your groceries, keeping everything from fresh veggies to frozen pizzas in tip-top shape. And guess what? It's ENERGY STAR certified, so it's kind to your wallet and the planet. No more chipping away at ice mountains thanks to the frost-free auto-defrost system (because who has time for that?). Plus, with adjustable temperature controls and doors that can swing either way, it's all about making your life easier. Oh, and if you're moving or dealing with a tight squeeze, the doors come off. Handy, right?
Here’s the lowdown on what makes this fridge a standout:
- With 18.1 cu. ft. of space, it’s got room for all your snacks—13.4 cu. ft. for the fresh stuff and 4.7 cu. ft. for freezing your favorites.
- Wobbly floor? No problem. The adjustable leveling legs have got your back.
- Left or right? The reversible door swing means it fits your space, not the other way around.
- And it uses R600a refrigerant, which is fancy talk for saying it’s better for the ozone layer. Good fridge, good karma.

so why did i go with this black+decker fridge well i needed something compact but with enough room for me and my wife since we don't have kids and our atlanta apartment has a small kitchen space. after using it for a couple of weeks, i'd say it does the job but it's not perfect. the cooling works fine for keeping things fresh and frozen, but i had to adjust the settings a few times to avoid things getting too cold or not cold enough. the reversible doors were helpful for fitting it in, but taking them off was tricky and felt flimsy. on the plus side, it's quiet most of the time, but occasionally it makes a humming noise that's a bit annoying, especially when i'm trying to focus on my gaming sessions. overall, it's functional and energy-efficient, which i appreciate, but i expected a bit more polish for the price. would i recommend it maybe if you're on a budget and need a space-saver, but there might be better options out there with fewer quirks :)
- Pros: the space inside is very generous for a smaller unit, fitting all our groceries without issue. i like that it doesn't build up ice, so no manual defrosting needed, and the doors can be set to open from either side, which made installation easier in our kitchen layout. it seems to use less energy, which is a plus for the bills and the environment from what i feel.
- Cons: it took some fiddling to get the temperature just right, as the controls are a bit basic and not very precise. the unit can be a bit noisy at times, which is noticeable in our quiet home. also, while the doors are removable, it was a hassle to do during setup without clear instructions.
