ACEBOTT QD020 STEM Robotics Science Kit: Easy for Beginner with ESP8266 motherboard
Got a kid who's 12 or older and loves tinkering? The STEM Robotics Science Kit is their next obsession. It's built around an ESP8266 motherboard—super user-friendly for budding programmers. And with 8 lessons that feel more like fun than homework, they'll dive deep into programming and electronics without even realizing they're learning. Talk about sneaky education!
Now, here's the cool part: the kit comes with a spider robot. Not just any spider, but one that struts its stuff in 6 different ways and has 9 tricks up its sleeve (or leg, in this case). Assembling it? A breeze, thanks to uniform screws and MG90 metal servos that keep it sturdy enough to survive the inevitable 'oops' moments.
Worried about battery life? Don't be. The Type-C direct charging and high-capacity rechargeable design mean more play, less pause. (Heads up, though: you'll need to grab a battery separately.)
And for the grand finale, pair it with the ACEBOTT App. Suddenly, your kid's not just playing with a robot—they're the puppet master, controlling every move from afar. The possibilities? Let's just say, 'endless' might be an understatement.
- Dynamic Performance with 6 movement modes
- Easy assembly with uniform screws
- Extended Playtime with Type-C charging
- Detailed Coding Tutorial included
- Intelligent Interaction via App control
- Easy for Beginner with ESP8266 motherboard

So I got this kit on a whim because my 12-year-old is into building things, and I thought it'd be a fun project for us. Right out of the box, it was easy to assemble with the same screws everywhere, and my kid loved making the robot walk around. But honestly, I expected more for the price. The programming part is super basic – like, it's okay for beginners, but I felt bored quickly, and my kid lost interest after a few days. The robot itself is neat with all its movements, but it doesn't feel very durable; I'm worried it'll break if we're not careful. And not including the battery? That's just annoying and added extra cost. The app is fun when it works, but it froze on me a couple of times, which was a letdown. Overall, it's an okay toy, but I wouldn't buy it again. Maybe if you're just starting out, it's fine, but for us, it didn't live up to the hype.
- Pros: It worked right away when I put it together, which was a relief for someone like me who's not great with tech stuff. The robot moves in lots of cool ways and has fun tricks, and my kid really enjoyed controlling it from my phone. Charging it is easy with the standard port, and it lasts a good while before needing a plug.
- Cons: I was extremely disappointed that I had to buy a battery separately – it should come with one! The lessons felt a bit too simple and didn't hold my attention for long, and the build quality isn't the best; some parts feel flimsy and might not last. Also, the app can be glitchy sometimes, which is frustrating.
