Amazon Astro Household robot for home monitoring: Home monitoring with Alexa
Say hello to Astro—your new favorite household sidekick, now with Alexa smarts baked right in. Imagine this: you're out, and suddenly, you're hit with the classic 'Did I leave the stove on?' panic. No sweat. Just ping Astro from your phone, and it'll zip over to check (and yes, it can even peek under the couch for that missing sock). It's got this nifty Intelligent Motion tech, so it won't be tripping over your shoes or getting stuck in a staring contest with the cat.
But wait, there's more (and no, we're not selling knives). You can teach Astro some tricks—like giving you the traffic lowdown before you dash out the door or reminding you it's time to feed Fluffy. Worried about privacy? Astro's got your back with a one-tap mute for mics and cameras. And if you're rocking Ring Home Premium, Astro turns into a mini security guard, patrolling your pad and saving clips for up to half a year. Talk about holding onto memories.
And because Alexa on wheels wasn't cool enough, Astro can trail you around with your jam or show, plus haul stuff like a snack-filled Ziploc or even a Furbo to keep an eye on Fido. Basically, it's like having a butler, if butlers were adorable robots that didn't judge your binge-watching habits.

so, i got this amazon robot a couple weeks back, and overall, it's pretty cool. why did i buy it? well, with the family and kids, i wanted something to help keep an eye on things and maybe make life a bit easier. what's it like to use? it zips around the house, checking on rooms or finding lost items, which is handy. does it work as expected? mostly yes, but there are some hiccups—like it might not always navigate perfectly, but that seems fixable with updates. i appreciate that it integrates with other smart home stuff, and the ability to mute it quickly is a big plus for privacy. would i recommend it? yeah, but only if you're okay with the cost and occasional quirks. it's not perfect, but it adds a fun, helpful touch to the home.
- Pros: i really like how it can move around on its own without bumping into things, which is great with kids and pets everywhere. being able to check on the house from my phone is a lifesaver, especially when i'm away and worry about stuff like the stove. the privacy features are solid, with an easy way to turn off listening and seeing, which makes me feel safer. it's fun to have it follow me with music or carry small items, adding a bit of convenience to daily life.
- Cons: from what i feel, it's very expensive for what it does, and i had some issues with it getting confused in tight spaces sometimes. the need for a subscription to save videos long-term is a bit of a letdown, and the battery life could be better—it doesn't last as long as i'd hoped. also, it was delayed a day in delivery, but that was fine in the end.
