When I first got this FOSCAM camera, I had high hopes given my background in engineering, but I must say, I'm a bit disappointed. The image clarity is top-notch, no doubt about that—it's like stepping up from an old blurry snapshot to something much clearer. The night vision is a real lifesaver; I've caught a few nocturnal visitors in the yard that I would've missed otherwise. However, the irony isn't lost on me that for all its advanced tech, the wide-angle lens warps the view in a way that can be misleading, and the audio isn't as crisp as I'd like for shouting at the dog from afar. It's served me well overall, but it's not without its quirks. I'd recommend it with some reservations, especially if you're looking for something foolproof.
- Pros: The picture quality is impressively sharp, capturing fine details that older cameras missed, and it works well even in complete darkness, which has saved me a few times when checking on things at night. Setting it up was straightforward, and I appreciate how it connects reliably to my home network without any fuss.
- Cons: As it seemed to me, the wide view can sometimes distort the edges a bit too much, making things look stretched, and while the privacy feature is handy, it feels a bit flimsy in practice. The audio quality isn't the best for two-way conversations, often coming through muffled.
