Fine Mold FG5 Castle in the Sky Robot Soldier Sonocho Plastic Model: 1/20 scale
Ever dreamed of having your very own piece of Laputa? Well, dream no more! The Castle in the Sky Robot Soldier Sonocho Plastic Model is here, and it's nothing short of magical. This isn't just any model—it's a 1/20 scale masterpiece that captures every detail of the iconic robot from Studio Ghibli's classic. Crafted from high-quality plastic, it's sturdy enough to survive the apocalypse (or at least a clumsy moment during assembly). Whether you're a newbie or a seasoned pro, putting this beauty together is a breeze.
What makes it stand out? For starters, it's the Laputa version, so it's as authentic as it gets. The parts fit together like they were made for each other (because, well, they were). And if you've ever been baffled by instructions that might as well be in ancient hieroglyphics, you'll love the clear, easy-to-follow guide that comes with it. No PhD in model building required.

As a deal hunter I was excited to get this model because I love the movie and thought it would be a great piece to display. But in reality while it looks good from a distance up close it has some issues. The assembly was straightforward and I finished it in a few hours but some parts didn't snap in perfectly and needed extra glue. Compared to other models I've seen this one is decent but not the best value. It seemed to me that Fine Mold could have done better with the materials. Overall it's okay for fans but I expected more for the money. I might recommend it if you find it on sale but full price is a stretch. Rare emoji for how I feel: 😕
- Pros: The model looks very authentic to the movie and the parts fit together well which made building it easier than I expected. The instructions were clear and helped me a lot as a beginner no confusing steps or anything like that.
- Cons: I was disappointed that it felt a bit flimsy in some spots not as sturdy as I hoped and the scale seemed smaller than I imagined. Also the plastic quality could be better for the price I paid it just didn't meet my high expectations.
