As an entrepreneur always on the road, I was looking for something to make my car rides less of a chore. I bought this Hippcron player hoping it would be a game-changer, but honestly, it left me disappointed. It arrived on time, which was good, but from the start, things felt off. The setup was straightforward, and I got it working with my iPhone easily—CarPlay integration is smooth when it works. But the disconnections happen randomly, and I have to unplug and replug the cable, which is annoying and unsafe while driving. The maps app is helpful, but on the small screen, it's hard to see details, making me miss turns. For music, it's okay for podcasts or talk radio, but for my workout playlists, the sound is weak and lacks bass, so I end up using my phone's speaker instead. The portability is a nice touch; I can take it with me, but it feels flimsy, and I worry it might break easily. Overall, it seemed to me like a half-baked solution—promises a lot but delivers mediocre performance. I expected more for the money, especially since I'm a deal hunter and thought this would be a steal. Maybe it's fine for short trips, but for daily use, it's not reliable enough. Extremely ironic that something meant to upgrade my car feels like a downgrade in some ways. 😕
- Pros: The screen is responsive and bright, making it super convenient to use while driving. I liked that it works with both my phone and my wife's, so no fighting over who gets to control the music. The sound from the built-in speakers is clear and loud enough to hear podcasts without straining, which is a big plus for long drives. It was easy to install and remove, just as described, so I can take it out when I park in sketchy areas.
- Cons: The screen size feels a bit small at times, especially when trying to read maps or text messages. The sound quality isn't amazing for music—it lacks depth and can get tinny at higher volumes. I noticed it sometimes disconnects from my phone for no reason, which is frustrating when I'm relying on navigation. The build seems a bit plasticky and cheap, not what I expected for the price.
