as a teacher in la, i bought this hoping it would help with the dusty air and occasional cooking smells in my home. i was skeptical at first, expecting it to be overhyped, but it does seem to improve air quality. it handles odors from the kitchen fairly effectively, though it's not instant. the reality is that it works well for daily use, but i wish it were more compact and affordable. overall, it's a decent purchase, but i'm still on the fence about recommending it to others without more time to test.
