Apple’s 2015 Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) will kick off on June 8 in San Francisco’s Moscone West where the company is expected to introduce new or updated hardware products, including the rumored the rumored next-generation Apple TV and apps. Now, the latest speculation is that Apple will unveil the mammoth iPad Pro and 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro 2015 at the 2015 WWDC earlier than expected, thanks to Intel’s new Broadwell processors estimated to arrive soon.
The present Haswell-supporting iMac and 15-inch MacBook Pro are built on Intel’s 22-nanometer manufacturing process, and Broadwell is the highly-anticipated successor to the current processor. Intel is yet to unveil Broadwell for “higher-performance” devices, such as all-in-one PCs and laptops, but has reportedly announced that its Broadwell chips will arrive in high-power PCs and laptops by “mid 2015.” This is believed to be the reason why the Cupertino giant is rushing the release of updated versions of its iMac and Retina MacBook.
The Broadwell-based Core i5-5675C/5675R and Core i7-5775C/5775R are reported to deliver a slight improvement in CPU performance and comes with Iris Pro 6200, an integrated graphics processor. Last month, Apple had refreshed the 13-inch MacBook Pro with an improved Broadwell processor and a trackpad with Force Touch technology, and it could now be the turn of the 15-inch MacBook Pro to get the Broadwell processor, along with incremental changes, including a possible new design. Apple had introduced the MacBook Pro with Retina Display at the 2012 WWDC, which further supports the idea of 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro 2015 being unveiled at the 2015 WWDC.
There are also speculations that the announcement of the 15-inch MacBook Pro will be accompanied by the launch of Apple’s next tablet, the iPad Pro at the 2015 WWDC. Apple’s upcoming iPad Pro is expected to be a mammoth device and much bigger in size than its full-sized tablet iPad Air 2, and will compete with the Microsoft Surface 12-inch tablet, as well as various Samsung 12-inch tablets in the market. The iPad Pro is rumored to cost “somewhere between the iPad Air and MacBook Air” and has been currently pegged for launch at the upcoming WWDC 2015.
Apple will be holding WWDC 2015, featuring over 100 technical sessions, 1,000 Apple engineers and hands-on labsfor the 26th consecutive year through June 12. Apple will also host its Design Awards to highlight apps for the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac that “demonstrate technical excellence, innovation and outstanding design.”
