Cornerback Charles Tillman gave Bears fans fans plenty to cheer about during his 12-year run in Chicago, becoming beloved for every ‘Peanut Punch’ and his off-the-field work through his Cornerstone Foundation.

Tillman, who signed a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers last week, placed an advertisement in the Chicago Sun-Times on Sunday, expressing his gratitude toward Chicago and Bears fans.

“It’s been an honor to wear the Bears uniform, share a few ‘Peanut Punches’ with you and get to know so many fans over the years,” he wrote.

Tillman, 34, departs after setting team records with nine defensive touchdowns. His 36 interceptions are the most by a cornerback and rank third behind safeties Gary Fencik (38) and Richie Petitbon (37).
