Forbes: Night of fashion, glitz and glamour in Calgary – Calgary Sun
One of the biggest bashes in Calgary is coming our way on Thursday, Nov. 9.
We have lots of galas year-round but this truly is the one that pops the champagne cork and takes the cake.
Fashion Calgary’s Ania Basak spends most of the year putting this evening of glitz and glamour together and gathers the movers and shakers of the Calgary cultural, fashion and media scene to celebrate and spread the word on Calgary’s vibrant social experience.
This is the sixth anniversary of The Calgary Fashion Portrait Campaign featuring a lot of those who have done incredible things to promote Calgary as a great place to live work and play.
I was fortunate to be one of the original ambassadors and many of the city’s biggest names have followed over the past six years.
A total of 150 Calgarians have been awarded the prestigious title and this year a couple of friends of mine will help host the night.
Jesse Modz, who works in the morning on CJAY92 with JD Lewis and myself, will be your host for the night along with Graham Sherman, the CEO and chief can counter at Tool Shed Brewing.
The night features great fashion, food and cocktails as you rub elbows with Calgary’s elite.
Brought on board this year to do the food is chef Duncan Lee of Foreign Concept, chef Rogelio Herrera of Alloy and chef Liana Robberecht from WinSport Canada.
Those three chefs will be preparing fabulous hors d’oeuvres to pair with the bubbly libations presented this year at the Courtyard Marriott Calgary South.
The red carpet is rolled out and the night begins with an incredible display of auction items dispersed by The Elevate Auction Group as you dance the night away to the music of The Cocktail Club featuring Kait Shane.
It’s a night of fun, frolic and food and it’s all for a good cause, with all money raised going to help the children here in town with the fight against Cancer.
Kids Cancer Care does some amazing work with Camp Kindle and Christine McIver will be there to explain where all the money will be used to help families navigate the frightening diagnosis of childhood cancer.
The night gets bigger and better every year and it’s one you don’t want to miss.
The big event is almost sold out, so hurry and make a plan to be there to cheer on this year’s 25 ambassador on Nov. 9 starting at 7 p.m. at The Courtyard by Marriott South, 3750 Market Street S.E.
This year’s theme — as always — is dress to impress and believe me, you will be impressed.
