Fashion photographer Nigel Barker to host Nashville book signing – The Tennessean
Renowned fashion photographer Nigel Barker plans to help kick off Nashville Fashion Week with a free book signing Tuesday afternoon.
Barker, who recently released his New York Times best seller, “Models of Influence: 50 Women Who Reset the Course of Fashion,” will give a presentation and sign books from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel. Barker is in Nashville for the city’s fifth annual regional fashion week, which is a five-day celebration of the local fashion and retail community.
Barker’s fashion book explores the most influential models from the 1940s to today.
“Music, style and fashion have always been intertwined, one pushing the other forward in a constant dance,” Barker said in a prepared statement. “As someone who has always been a huge fan of Nashville, I can’t wait to see what the city has installed this fashion week to push the boundaries.”
Barker most recently appeared as host of Oxygen’s “The Face,” and he was a longtime judge on “America’s Next Top Model” alongside host Tyra Banks. Barker also directs and produces films and documentaries.
The book signing is the first of about 10 events to celebrate Nashville Fashion Week. Tito’s Handmade Vodka will provide complimentary cocktails for attendees of the book signing who are 21 and older and who RSVP for the event. Visit nashvillefashionweek.com for details on how to RSVP.
Other events this week include a local designer showcase at Acme Feed & Seed, an accessories as art installation at The Cordelle, design and fashion event at Mitchel Gold + Bob Williams, “Shop Nashville” day, ready-to-wear runway show with featured designer and Vanderbilt graduate Timo Weiland at the Bicentennial Mall, an industry panel at City Winery and a fashion gala at The Rosewall, which will include the inaugural Fashion Forward Awards.
An all-access pass for Nashville Fashion Week costs $300 and includes access to all events during Nashville Fashion Week. Individual tickets are available for each event and range from $20 for the fashion industry panel to $150 for the Fashion Forward Fund gala at the Rosewall.
Ticket proceeds from the events benefit the Nashville Fashion Forward Fund to help advance the career of a local fashion professional.
