Tighter US-Japanese Ties Not Meant to Threaten China, Leaders Insist – Wall Street Journal

WASHINGTON—President Barack Obama said during a state visit by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe that the U.S. and Japan share concern over China’s aggression in the Asia-Pacific region but that reinvigorated trade and military ties aren’t intended to provoke Beijing.

Mr. Obama said the renewal of U.S.-Japan ties are designed to combat maritime disputes in the Pacific and better address emerging problems such as cyber-threats.
