Saudi Arabia ‘oversees deployment of ground troops in Yemen’ – Telegraph.co.uk

On Sunday, Human Rights Watch accused the Saudi-led coalition of deploying US-supplied cluster munitions on at least two seperate occasions during recent weeks. Cluster munitions’ usage has been banned by 116 countries.

Saudi Arabia has denied using such weapons. But Human Rights Watch identified the remnants of such devices supplied to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates by the US in recent years. Both fragments were found in the Houthis’ northern stronghold of Saada.

“These weapons should never be used under any circumstances because of their long-term threat to civilians,” said Steve Goose, Human Rights Watch’s arms director.
